Expedition Trophy is the ultimate test of the driver and navigator, not the machine. The event favors driving skill and vehicle awareness over speed. Special tasks, Navigation Challenges and Difficult Bonus Questions level the field. But there is still action to be had during the event, with a timed sand rally course, challenging navigation route and demanding optional physical events.

The first annual expedition trophy occurred in November, 2005 to great success. With over 20 vehicles in attendance, including Land Rovers, Toyotas, Isuzus, Jeeps and Suzukis. Following the rally, the event organizers took the participants on a multi-day adventure into the mountains of Central Arizona.
